The surroundings… Alisal is a 10,000-acre private ranch in the beautiful Santa Ynez Valley, five minutes outside Solvang and 45 minutes from Santa Barbara.

The rooms… Locally sourced Western-style blankets and cushions, horse bridles hanging from the walls, fireplaces and spacious bathrooms create a cozy atmosphere. But honestly, why visit Alisal if not to ride one of the hundred or so horses through the incredible mountains, woodlands and pastures of the Jackson family ranch? The views are extraordinary, and even the most jaded rider will be in awe. If horseback riding isn’t your thing, there are two impressive golf courses, a well-stocked fishing lake for all ages and skill levels, as well as archery, shooting, and plenty more to keep outdoor enthusiasts entertained.
The food & drink… Hearty Western breakfasts and dinners satisfy the big appetites that come from a day in the saddle or on the driving range.

Be sure to… Stay over for a Saturday to enjoy the outdoor BBQ, which features high-end guest chefs and live music. Best brisket and ribs I’ve had in a long time.
