The surroundings… Belmond Encanto is set high up above Santa Barbara, surrounded by an oasis of beautiful gardens and terrapin ponds. With 90 villas, rooms, and suites, even during peak season you can feel blissfully alone.
The vibe… 1920s Colonial Spain meets modern California luxury. Think Marbella Club in Cali on top of a hill and you’re pretty much there.
The rooms…. White-painted walls and dark wood exposed beams on the exterior set a charming tone. Inside, the interiors are simple and elegant, with impressive TVs and bathrooms. But the best part of Encanto is stepping out of your room in the morning, taking in your surroundings, and finding it impossible not to smile. If possible, book a Terrace Suite.
The wellness… The focus on wellness can be felt throughout the hotel, but in a subtle, non-invasive way. Just being there brings a sense of calm and relaxation. The hotel features a well-equipped fitness studio and offers plenty of classes, including holistic healing sessions in the gardens.
The food & drink… The hotel promises and delivers “the best of coastal California,” with the added bonus of the best view of Santa Barbara. The complimentary fresh popcorn and ice-chilled apples around the pool were a chic touch.
Extra tip goes to… The pool staff are absolutely charming, making all the Vilebrequin and Eres-clad guests feel equally special.
